As we know, iOS 6 only reaches back as far as the iPhone 3GS, but countless people are still on the old iPhone 2G / 3G, as well as the old iPod touch first & second generation. Whited00r for iOS 5 initially arrived earlier this year, allowing users to install portions of iOS 5 on those aforementioned relics, and gave the impression that the device was running on the fifth edition of Apple’s mobile operating system.
While iOS 6 is still available for iPhone 3G and iPod touch 2G, they are barely capable of running it, and that too without the goodness of multitasking, wallpapers and Folders.
Notification Center is also there, and a replica of Apple’s iCloud service, which is, of course not the real thing, but an alternative that gets the job done in the same manner and lets you share data between two Whited00r toting devices. So if you’re stuck on an older device and have been teased by those running the slick new iOS 6 firmware, you can grab this iOS 6 lookalike firmware from the official site of Whited00r.
Of course, you’ll need to be jailbroken before you can get started with installing the updated version of whited00r, but once you’ve got that out of the way, you can rejuvenate your antiquated device by offering it a reasonable simulation of the latest release of iOS.
